International Day of Women and Girls in Science

We commemorated the International Day of Women and Girls in Science on 13-Feb-2024, the International day of women and Girls in Science was established by the United Nations General Assembly in December 2015, with the aim of promoting full and equal access to and participation in science for women and girls, as well as achieving gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls, this year theme is Think science… Think peace. The event took place at Shree Sahajanand School Bukoto and Msichana Uganda had an opportunity to organize two panels which incredibly stood out. The first Panel involved of two secondary students from Shree Sahajanand School and Two other students who represented the International University of East Africa. Alongside these, we had a senior panel which included captain Ashaba Farida a Ugandan female pilot and entrepreneur, the second panelist was Linda Evelyn Namulindwa a Water Resources Engineer and influencer, the third panelist was Winfred Batte, a Clinical Research Nurse. The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Lakshmi Bahbuu, the Dean – Faculty of science and technology at the international university of East Africa who happened to be our keynote speaker.
