To mark this important occasion, Msichana Uganda together with local leaders launched the SAIDA Safe Club of Kwosir Girls&#8217; School located in Tuikat Sub-County, Kween District which includes women, survivors, and victims of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Female_genital_mutilation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">FGM<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"820\" height=\"546\" class=\"wp-image-1304\" style=\"width: 820px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.msichana.ug\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/img1-1.jpg\" alt=\"Msichana Uganda launches Saida Safe Club in Kwisor Girls' School\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.msichana.ug\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/img1-1.jpg 1280w, https:\/\/www.msichana.ug\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/img1-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.msichana.ug\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/img1-1-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.msichana.ug\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/img1-1-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.msichana.ug\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/img1-1-600x400.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 820px) 100vw, 820px\" \/><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We then carried out a session aimed at educating girls about what FGM is, its prevalence, and its harmful effects. The girls\/women were informed that FGM is a violation of human rights and is not a practice that should be continued. The session was interactive, with students asking questions and expressing their thoughts. The use of simple language and appropriate visuals helped in delivering the message effectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"820\" height=\"1230\" class=\"wp-image-1303\" style=\"width: 820px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.msichana.ug\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/img3-1.jpg\" alt=\"A lady sharing her experience about FGM\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.msichana.ug\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/img3-1.jpg 853w, https:\/\/www.msichana.ug\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/img3-1-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.msichana.ug\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/img3-1-682x1024.jpg 682w, https:\/\/www.msichana.ug\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/img3-1-768x1152.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 820px) 100vw, 820px\" \/><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We also discussed the importance of keeping girls in school which protects them from child marriage, child labor, and several forms of violence, including Female Genital Mutilation. We had survivors of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Female_genital_mutilation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">FGM<\/a> in the area share their experiences to help girls who could\u2019ve gone through the same experience seek help. These discussions aimed at reshaping the harmful societal attitudes and breaking the stigma that perpetuates FGM and surrounds menstrual hygiene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The International Day of Zero Tolerance for <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Female_genital_mutilation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">FGM<\/a> session included a giveaway of reusable sanitary towels to girls from the region to improve their menstrual health and ensure that they do not miss school or feel stigmatized because they cannot afford certain requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From ensuring access to menstrual hygiene with Msichana reusable pads, Msichana Uganda is working with local leaders and other organizations in the Kween District to ensure that girls are kept in school and also protected from <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Female_genital_mutilation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">FGM<\/a> to pave the way for a more equitable world.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The International Day of Zero Tolerance for FGM (Female Genital Mutilation) is a significant day to raise awareness and educate communities about the causes and harmful effects of FGM.
